The Hyoi Pear was a fruit used as bait to attract Seagulls in The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. The bait was sold by a sea-traveling merchant, Beedle. Kept in the Bait Bag, Link would take a pear out and place it on his head, resulting in a seagull swooping down and eating it, granting Link full control over the bird. The gull, unlike Cuccos in Twilight Princess, could be manipulated without a time limit, making it is easier to perform certain tasks, such as getting a Triforce Chart. However, if the bird were to be attacked, Link's dominance over the seagull would be abruptly terminated, and another pear would be required in order to gain control over another bird.
